I had been following all of the press about the Skywalk, from conception through the recent legal battles with the developer. I have had the opportunity to experience the Skywalk under the developers control and after the Hualapai took control. My experiencees following the Huapapai takeover were greatly improved over my original trip.
My first trip to Grand Canyon West...

I wanted to see the Grand Canyon while in Vegas and my girlfriend and I were up for the the drive. On the way to flagstaff, we saw a sign that said "Skywalk 49 miles" and we opted for that. On the way there, we looked up the visitor reviews and noticed that people either loved it or hated it...

Coming back to Las Vegas from Phoenix, my wife and I saw a sign that said Grand Canyon skywalk 49 miles. I thought to myself, 49 miles is not that far...big mistake.
The first 30 miles is not bad until you hit the unpaved road. Unless you have an off-road vehicle, you will probably be making some repairs to your...

This Skywalk is a truly amazing piece of engineering and a fantastic view of the Canyon and the Colorado River.
Unfortunately the experience is spoiled by the following points;-
The 9 mile gravel road is a drag in and out, with no way round it.
The photos are just postcard size and a rediculous $30, No way round this either!...

This was one of the highlights of our trip. I was a bit leary of going after reading the reviews but I watched how the Skywalk was built on the Discovery channel and immediately wanted to go and check it out. Glad we did - to stand above the Grand Canyon was unbelievable. The road there was a dirt road...

After spending 3 hours driving from Las Vegas to the Skywalk, being greeted by a 9 mile dirt road, we arrived at the main terminal, this is where the total rip off begins! Just to access the bus to the skywalk you have to pay a minimum of $50 per person for their cheapest package, when we asked for the...

From the minute you step off the bus, the beauty hit you. It wasn't until we stepped onto the Skywalk, that the height factor really set in. Our guide Ted was very helpful and explained everything, answering all questions that people had on their minds. Walking around from one side to the other is something not to be missed, with...

We have been to the Grand Canyon South Rim - tourist areas and although this was a bit expensive and time consuming to reach it was worth the time and money.
The Skywalk is an engineering marvel and we understand why they don't want people to bring items on it and cover their shoes. We had no problem with the...

Nothing exciting to walk over a glass balcony that looks "nowhere" - either around or especially underneath. The view from the balcony is the same as from the free access point next to it. Definetely an excessive price to pay just to walk on the "air" and pay extra for a photo (as visitor cameras are not allowed)
