This hill at the south east of the city centre has been turnied into a garden with waterfalls and wonderful views. Well worth the trip up the cable car. Not too many seats...
this is easy to get to from the centre of the city. The station at the bottom is interesting architecturally, with lots of coloured glass and you can see all the parts mechanism working smoothly and perfectly, which is reassuring considering that you're about to travel a fair height above the ground. If you're on an economic tour of South America, like I am, take the 1,000+ stairs up to the top of Cerro San Bernardo and get the satisfaction of reaching the top by foot. You get pretty views of the whole city and surrounding areas, and unlike other telefericos I have taken/hilltops I have climbed to, there was a decent... More
There are few lookouts, waterfalls (artificial) - a nice place to run around. There is a cafe/restaurant at the top, option to rent mountain bikes and a few small touristic shops
You must go to have a view of entire Salta. A Cafe and Restaurant upstairs allows you to relax, enjoy sun and have fun. For those who love excercise you can climb walking and enjoy a mini Gym for free with a lovely view
Regardless whether you take the teleferico or walk (approx. 30-40 min.) to the top Cerro San Bernardo is well worth a visit. The views of Salta with the mountains as a backdrop are beautiful and the tranquility of the place makes it a nice place to enjoy your time.

We were fortunate with the weather, which makes a big difference at a place with panoramas like this. We particularly enjoyed sitting... More

The park at the summit is very nice and the trees provide plenty of cover from the sun as you stroll along the paths. A bit of a breeze and several beautiful views... More
