I was prepared for this to be the sort of tourist trip I don't particularly enjoy, but it exceeded expectations. I took a private car out of BA, which ups the cost, but it's a fairly long drive - though this is the closest one to the city centre. The Estancia itself is attractive (serves as a small hotel as... This working ranch is about a 2 hours drive from the center of Buenos Aires. You leave your hotel about 9-9:30 am and drive through the many suburbs of the city and into countryside. Stop in a ranching town and then off the highway on to dirty roads to the ranch. This ranch has been in operation for more than... More

While in Buenos Aires we wanted to learn more about Gauchos. we went to Feria de Mataderos on Sunday and spent a day at the estancia El Ombu. We chose this estancia based on the reviews and the photos. This is the beautiful estancia and is very well organized. after you arrive you have some refreshment and can go for... More

We arrived at Estancia El Umbo just in time for the Gaucho Asado. The best BBQ I have every experienced. The architecture and setting were fantastic. Our room was beautiful, tastfully decorated in a contemporary style. The food, the accommodation, the entertainment and riding experience were all superb. Excellent value for money considering what was on offer! More

We were collected from our hotel Own Palermo, they booked us a tour with an English Speaking Guide - Guillermo (William in English). We travel the world and he was the best guide we have ever had. He was thoughtful, polite, kind and very intelligent. I couldn't recommend him enough. Marcellis at the hotel highly recommended him for private tours.... More

We came here for two days after visiting Buenos Aires. We were impressed right away - the location is beautiful and the grounds are well-kept. The rooms were very, very comfortable (especially the best) and well decorated. It was a little cold, but the woodfire warmed up quickly! We got to go horseback riding on very gentle horses - great... More

We spent about six hours at the estancia, participating in carriage ride, walking around the property, eating and drinking, gaucho music and dancing, and a gaucho show with the horses. The property is beautiful. The home is a 19th century Italian designed house with large porch and outside kitchen. Lodging is offered, but limited. It would be wonderful to spend... More
