They can also take you to a milonga (social tango dance salon) filled with locals dancing the real tango of Buenos Aires. (No tango show style) Beginners welcome and no partner is necessary. Classes are in English and Spanish. Their studio in the old tango barrio of Boedo is easy to get to by bus, subway and taxi, about 15 minutes from the Obelisco. Ruben y Cherie will teach you the basic principles of the dance and the unwritten codigos of the milonga. They don't teach patterns or steps, but tango based on the music, embrace, connection, improvisation, sensuality, and elegance. Private lessons and group classes by request. They offer the unique service of personalized bilingual instruction, along with an Argentine's knowledge and decades of experience and an American's point of view. Ruben y Cherie have been teaching together since 2006, when they were Finalists in the Tango Championships of Buenos Aires. « less

Tonight is my last day to stay in Buenos Aires and I just came back from Milonga, Cherie and Ruben were together with me. I had 3 times of private lesson with them, it was just a great experience. I was very happy to dance as well as to know them! Are you looking for a best tango teacher in... More

Cherie and Ruben provided a warm and heartfelt welcome to Tango in BA. Taking a lesson with them is an experience that we valued for not only the content but for how welcoming they were. We joined them at a Saturday night milonga and found the venue to be one of our favorites. We were honored to have been there... More

Ruben and Cherie are marvelous. My wife and I love BA because of them. We bought a tango lesson package. It included a tango lesson, dancing at a milonga, city tour at night, and transportation. We had a bus tour that day with the tour group that we were traveling with. It was a tour from hell. The tour guide... More

When they told me they did not teach steps, I wondered what I would learn.... Well I learned a great deal, including how to walk again and that to do it well requires thought, elegance and sensuality. I had a wonderful time learning from Cherie and Ruben and my only regret is that I did not take more lessons and... More

Cherie is an expat Los Angeleno living in BA. Reuben is a native and an amazing dance teacher. They accompanied a group of us to an authentic local miloguero to teach us the customs, rules and mores of tango in Buenos Aires. And we drank champagne and danced. Wonderful way to experience this city.

There is a thing called a Tango high and we experienced it, thanks to the sensitive tutelage of Cherie and Ruben. It can be difficult to surrender and leave behind decades of conditioning but bit by bit, with gentleness and humour, these two beautiful teachers led us to that place. A lesson or two with Cherie and Ruben is an... More

I was fortunate to find my holiday plans were going to find me in Buenos Aires for the start of the New Year, with hopes/dreams of actually dancing there. My initial plans to "turn up" and see if I could get some dances at a Milonga, travelling on my own, were put into sharp perspective by fellow dancers in my... More

We were so busy with our week in Buenos Aires that we only had time for one tango lesson. And we had read that Ruben and Cherie were the best. Any wife Olivia and I can both attest to that. One lesson with them was more helpful than we could imagine. And listen to Cherie's advice as to where to... More

I had over a dozen private lessons with Ruben and Cherie between 2010 and 2012. They teach in Cherie's apartment in Boedo, just a couple of blocks from the nearest Subte (underground) station and even closer to numerous colectivo (bus) routes. So they're very easy to get to from anywhere in Buenos Aires. The teaching space isn't very large but... More
