The estate is at the end of the road, the deepest among a series of Stellenbosch wineries. The name Rust en Vrede is Dutch meaning "Rest & Peace", and the place seems true to its name with its peaceful surroundings in the hills. Unfortunately we didn't have time to try its famous restaurant, but we did do a round of... More

Whilst staying at a nearby spa, my mum and I were treated to a meal at this beautiful estate... The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing and we had a lovely evening. The ease with which they catered to our slightly challenging dietary requirements was refreshing - they tailored the menu to each of our needs to create... More

Our family of 4 had a wonderful meal here whilst staying in Stellenbosch in April. The food was divine, the service was lovely and the price was a welcome change from what we would pay back home. Highly recommend.

Recently visited here after a South African friend recommended doing so on a visit to SA. He was right and it was a fantastic experience. We started with a tour of the cellar where they explained the way in which it starts from grapes till wine, how to store it, what to look for in wine etc...look out for 2012... More

We had a lovely tasting and tour of the grounds. The weather was perfect and so many people were enjoying the outdoor dining area. Two couples had such a short time here, but enjoyed every moment.

I have been visiting Rust en Vrede for some thirty years, to taste and buy wine. Our visit on Saturday showed once again that this winery continues to be the producer of some of the Cape's finest red wines. We opted for the full tasting (there are options limited to only the standard range or alternatively the premium wines). The... More

With so many other superb restaurants in the area, the experience has to be special and it doesn't disappoint. The interior, with the open kitchen, plush seating and wealth of photos of both the oweners family and the stages of restoration of the building, create a real warmth which is also reflected in the welcome and all the staff. The... More

Top class service and food worthy of the ratings, you must reserve your table plenty time in advance, weeks in advance if possible to ensure you do not miss out on the experience,

We have just had the Winemakers lunch which we have had quite regularly. It is simply great! The setting ,the quality of the beef is awesome. The meal is served with a glass of the Shiraz , but one can enjoy a great range of wines.

We had the 4 course tasting and it was by far our best meal of the trip and that’s saying a lot (we also ate at The Tasting Room, Le Quartier Francais and Catharina's so Rust en Vrede had lots of competition for the best title). Since our hotel was in Franschhoek we had to hire a shuttle service but... More
