Llandudno and Hout Bay are spots that we appreciated a lot. The beaches are just super! Be aware that sharks are everywhere, and that the water is freezing could, but Llandudno and Hout Bay are gorgeous for a walk on the beach and a view on the fantastic villas.

If you are in Hout Bay you HAVE to stop at Snoekies and get their fish n chips, it is the best in Cape Town and you must eat it on the beach and share with the seagulls, great experience.

With its own little fishing harbour and charter boat services you cant go wrong. Lots of restaurants and pubs and the lovely Chapmans Peak known for the Argus Cycle tour.

Depending on what you are used to I felt this place was over rated. I dare say even a little reminiscent of 80's south of Spain.. but with over priced underserviced facilities.

Good: Hout Bay is for those who dont like being in the centre of a large city and prefer more of a village/small town ambiance. It is a delightful little place, and has a very good little shopping mall with an excellent woolworths (same as UK M&S) and other small shops including a homeopathic store and pharmacy. The harbour offers... More

A pleasant town, perfect for exploring the area. A good selection of restaurants and shops and excellent Saturday market nearby. Quieter than Cape Town and within easy reach of Kirstenbosch and other local attractions.

We love Hout Bay. The Beaches, the laid back attitude, Out of town but still central. Only one little dislike was sometimes the smell from the canning factory

The best way to enter Houtbay is via Chapman's Peak from the Noordhoek side towards Cape Town. Amazing views! Go for FIsh and Chips at Mariner's Wharf - a local institution for fine fish :) Take a short boat-trip to Seal island for some more amazing views and end it off with a soft serve ice cream when you get... You cannot beat the entrance roads to this place, when it comes to beauty. If you travel via Chapmans Peak from Kommetjie and Noordhoek, then you are in for a treat...but there is a toll fee. Coming from Camps Bay, you will have awesome sea views...stop at the lookout over Llandudno at sunset for a special view. A walk along... More
