Head Office of the government in the capital Pretoria. Beautiful gardens and views of the city.
We enjoyed the beautifully manicured landscaping around Union Buildings. Nice view of the city as well.
Access to Union Buildings site is free. Entry to the building itself is not allowed because it accomodates the South African President's offices. It is particularly beautiful in end October overlooking hunderds of Jacaranda trees in full... More

The Union Buildings in Pretoria are beautiful, as others have said it is a pity you can't go in! The grounds are immaculately kept and are great for a photo. You have to be next to the building to experience the history attached to it. I was once privileged to go inside the compound (not accessible to the public, for security reasons) and up to the President's office's reception, and it was something to experience. History is literally oozing out of the walls.
If only you could go in! A great building but only can be viewed from outside. I understand you used to be able to go in the gardens to the rear as well but security no longer allows. Go to the patio bar in the Sheraton to get the best views.
