a large sundial hence the name. many shops nearby. walk around and see different things such as real estate offices, tourist souvenir shops, art galleries, etc.
Sundial is worth the trip. Nicely laid out town center. They have completed a landscaping upgrade in the last couple of years adding many varieties of desert plants to the botanical garden. There are also a couple of play areas for the children. Our grandkids loved the "gila monster" slide. There are many interesting shops, however the restaurant scene has... More
What else can be said. It is the largest sundial in the western hemisphere. The town of carefree is quaint but I prefer it's neighbor Cave Creek. Lots of restaurants nearby, shopping too.
We read that there was a botanical gardens showcasing different cacti species in the Carefree town center so went to check it out. From the description, we thought it would be much more extensive - but it's cute and well laid out, with lots to look at. Plus the sundial is there and that's somewhat interesting. Very cool town. I like the sundial and I knew the time right away. Pretty place for pictures. Our friends have a place nearby and suggested we go here. It's so nice and clean in Arizona. The people are very friendly.
The drive to the town of Carefree was lovely. The scenery breathtaking. The town was lovely to walk around and very pretty. There ws a farmers market on when we visit where we purchased some peppermint oil. There were some lovely statues to look at and the giant sundial was interesting. No downside to note.
Went to see the sundial because it is in all the advertisements. Nice little park area with shops around it although many are closed this time of year. Sun dial was ok but nothing spectacular or that interesting
Nice park like atmosphere and interesting venue showing the largest sundial.
