The most commercialised, overcrowded, overrated, trammeled place in all of Asia. Do not go to Tanah Lot, especially not at sunset. Unless you want to do a documentary on how the sacred has become profane. You have to sit in traffic in a long line of busses just to get in. Then you have to run the gamut of a... More

I have visited Tanah Lot about 4 times now and never get sick of returning. On the walk down to the temple there is some great shopping and you can also have a very large snake draped around your neck for the ultimate photo experience to show your friends when you return. At low tide you are able to walk... More

Only thing to go there for is to get a nice shot of the sunset. Too my many vendors selling stuff and you can't even enter into the actual temple itself unlike places like Wat Po in Thailand. More

We arrived at 10am and it was during low tide. It was a rather misty day but it was still a beautiful sight. We also went to the other side of the area to take more pictures which were well worth it. There were rows of shops leading to Tanah Lot as well as a small 'zoo' next to the... More

Was concerned that this would be such a tourist trap and the beauty would be ruined. Yes there are tourists but it is genuinely a beautiful temple in a stunning location and even at sunset you could still appreciate the site in all its glory. Very impressed with Tanah Lot...just head up to the cliffs, grab a drink and watch... More

Nice ocean view and unique temple. Low tide so we could walk up to the temple. Definitely must be unique at high tide surrounded by water More

The sunset behind this 11th Century temple is breathtaking, the natural spring in the rock surrounded by ocean and small blessing by the mangku always spiritual, and still some great bargains in the markets with minimal bartering! More

We came before noon - fewer tourists and tide was low enough to allow us to go onto the temple. But most of it was off limits so did not get to explore around. I came here 14 years ago at sunst and thought it was breathtaking. At noon, light was crap for photography. We stayed for lunch and shopping... More
