This was my favorite trip on my 7 day Alaskan cruise. The walk over very level ground is easy and frequently has persons in wheelchairs making the trip without difficulty. It is well worth the hike. Also don't forget to look for the salmon runs if they are in season. I would highly recommend visiting the Mendenhall Glacier. Be sure... More

WOW...double WOW! We took a floatplane tour over the 5 glaciers and my Grandson Dylan got to sit in copilots seat. What a sunny day in May we had to see the scenery from above. Our cruise May 5-12 2013, everyone said would be colder weather. Nope! It was sunny and great all week except inside passage coming back to... More

Take a short hike to Nuggett Falls or spend some time in the visitor center on site. This is quite the experience. My wife and I have been in in town for 3 months and have visited the glacier at least 6 times. The face is always changing with calvings and its so beautiful! The visitor center is free, there... Standing in the visitors area you really cannot grasp how big the glacier really is. You also cannot realize you are actually in a rain forest! We were lucky enough to be able to go up in a helicopter and get a better view of the glacier field - it was well worth the extra money .

It was cold, rainy and snowy! But we LOVED it. We hiked the trail and looked for bears (didnt see any). We took about a hundred photos from all angles of the glacier. The museum and gift shop is $3 but so worth it. We were on a cruise but bought the tour from a group on the side of... More

This was a beautiful park to visit! It works for any level if you want to take a short walk to see the glacier or take a trail you have several options. The view is fantastic! I only wish we had more time to spend their and do the trails. If you want to take in the view from the... More

There is no picture that can do Mendenhall justice. Tour guide said that the ice was blue because the pressure of the ice over time squeezed all the air out of it. The breeze off the glacier is colder than the surrounding area. Viewing the glacier was to me a once in a lifetime experience, and I've had a few.

The glacier is beautiful tucked in a mountain gorge. The scrapes of the path it has travel in the thousands of years it has been in the valley are amazing. The Visitors centre has a great view!

Not far from town, huge glacier, really large waterfall. Free, nice walking to the waterfall. Only had about an hour. Next time, I'll allow more time.

It's another world, and it doesn't get much better than this. The Glacier is viewable from the parking lot, shelters, or several trails, the visitor center is excellent, with exhibits, short educational films, a small shop, and great Forest Service docents to explain it all. Great hiking trails nearby or a flat wooden walkway for glacier, fish, and bear viewing.... More
