One of our favorite stops on our 2 week self guided Alaskan trip. Kennicott Lodge, Kennecott Mine and the towns of Kennecott and McCarthy were well worth the rough drive up the mountain! Very isolated and charming area! More

We flew in a small plane to McCarthy and took a tour over to Kennecott to see the town and the abandoned mine. I have to say that there are stairs everywhere. There were lots of stairs up to the local hotel where we had lunch. There were stairs to most of the buildings. However, I was in no way... More
