The Eagle River Nature Centure is about a 1/2 hour drive from Anchorage on the Glenn Highway leading out of town. Well cared for vistor's center, nice staff. Great place to just sit & veg out or go for a hike. Also they have great speakers on various topics. More

We live here so going to the Nature Center is a frequent thing, but no big deal. I was surprised when friends came to visit and drove two times from Anchorage to hike here. They wanted to know why I hadn't recommended it. It's beautiful. The bridge view of the lake, the spawning salmon in August, the mountains with glaciers.... More

this hike/walk is so peaceful and nice. Take bug spray and a gun with you if you go because the bugs are thick and there are bear spottings regularly here More

In addition to their educational activities, the ERNC has great hiking. They rent yurts along some of the trails and renting a yurt for an overnight is a great way to "get away" without having to go very far. This is a fun, informative place to visit for kids, and a great place to hike for all skill levels. There are beautiful well groomed trails, and some amazing photo ops. Parking is $5. More

They have some great hiking trails. The Crow Pass Trail is a fantastic adventure, especially when you hike all 26 miles. They have great programs for kids and adults to learn about nature and animals. More
