Interesting historical site, unfortunately we chose a day when it was very busy and the car parks were overflowing. But normally its fascinating to walk around.

A nice place if your touring the island, not much to see besides the lighthouse. If you want to pass a great day in this area, I suggest making a reservation on motu Martin. The owner will come pick you up by boat and take you on this little treasure. Great place for a picnic.

Small park and beach around the interesting white lighthouse. There is no museum, just a souvenir shop, and toilets.

If travelling around Tahiti by hire car, Point Venus is worth a short stop, if only for the view of the mountains from the beach. There is also the lighthouse, of course, and a reasonable gift shop - and public restrooms, a rarity on Tahiti.

There is a huge lighthouse with lovely trees surrounding the garden area. This is where Captain cook built a fort to observe the 1769 transit of Venus (the planet) across the sun before continuing on to discover the east coast of Australia.
There are a number of memorial plaques in the gardens as well as a large black sand beach...

A very scenic location with lots of history of Captain cook. Included in most of the guided tours of Tahiti as the first stop its a great introduction to the island.
