My father and I visited Biesanz just after Christmas 2012, we rocked up not knowing if the studio was open which thankfully it was but were then informed that unfortunately the workshop was not open and "that Barry had just left". We said it was a shame as my father did a lot of his pattern making work in wood... More

If you are looking for quality and beauty, this is the place to go. You will love the artistry and craftsmanship of the pieces as well as the workshop and the surrounding gardens. Spend some time conversing with Barry, Sarah and their staff - they are special people. Highly recommended for a all around lovely experience.

Super sunny morning trip, too! We've visited Barry's shop and gardens several times over the past years, often with out-of-town guests. It's also our go-to place for classy and very personal gifts for grand occasions. We make daily use in our home of beautiful chopsticks and bowls from the shop, and a kendo sword made by Barry hangs on the... More

We went here on a whim on afternoon and absolutely loved it! We had an amazing tour of the woodshop by a man who has worked there for 31 years and had energy as if it were his first year in the business. (I forget his name) He made our visit so special and he was very engaging. We were... More

We found this amazing place in Escazú thanks for our travel book about Costa Rica. (NG) The tour around the workshop was fantastic, we're able to see every step of the production in this small wood workshop, guided by one of the workers and the wife of the owner. The gardens around the workshop are also amazing, where we had... More

very friendly staff. We got a tour of the workshop and got to see how the wood was prepared before being carved and aged. Great for gifts.

This is a nice stop in Escazu. We bought a number of small pieces for gifts to bring back. Best quality woodwork we saw on our trip

We had a couple of extra hours while in Escazu and visited Biesanz Woodworks based on reading the Tripadvisor reviews. The owner/artist took us through his amazing gardens, stopping to talk about many of the plants. He also showed us his woodworking shop. Then we looked at the beautiful finished products: wood boxes, jewelry, etc. Framed on the wall are... More
