The zoo is huge but as we visited in the Spring time, it wasn't hot and flowers were in full bloom. There are train like cars that are provided (a small fee to pay) but we decided to walk and it took us nearly 5hours from point of entry to the exit (that too I believe we had missed some... More

The zoo is ok...but just not up to most western zoo standards. Nice grounds though with nice landscaping More

Surprised to find so many negative reviews because I went to the zoo with my family over the weekend and we found it lots of fun. It is set up like a park which avoids the 'concrete-jungle' that you find in other zoos. Looked for the 'Whopper Swans' but we couldn't find them, that was the only disappointment....the search will... More

The zoo left me somewhat perplexed. The setting was great. Mostly clean with a wide variety of plants emerging with spring colors. It was easy to get around the zoo, well signposted with pictures and with transport for those who had difficult walking the extensive area. Some animal enclosures were not so good and left me disappointed. They weren't so... More

I'm used to travel to Asia and I've seen how animals are often treated in places they call zoos or animals parks, I'm not saying it is like this everywhere but I've seen some. I've never seen a panda in my life so I decided that probably Shanghai Zoo was a good place to see one. One of the most... More

I suffered, but I guess the animals suffered more. When we were there, some Chinese visitors throw food and cans on the animals. The area is nice with a lot of space, so it is till worth going there for a picknick. More

The Panda exhibit is a NATIONAL EMBARRASMENT but the zoo as a whole is not as bad as many I have seen in western countries. Of course there is always room for improvement but I would not ban my son from seeing it...In fact, he and I really enjoyed our day there... More
