I try to go every year. It's very family friendly and there are tons of parades to enjoy. Make sure to check out the Joe Cain parade! It's always a ton of fun!

Rating this isn't fair!!! how can you rate the biggest party next to NEW YEARS MOON PIE DROP!!! crows screamed for the anthem's pie's for two weeks!! MY ears just stopped ringing yesterday!!

This is where it all started. Not New Orleans, much more family friendly and all the excitement of the holiday! yes, it's a holiday in mobile, we even let our children out of school for it!

Mardi Gras in Mobile - the original site for Mardi Gras is a great experience. There are lots of great places to watch the parade along the extensive route as well as catch it for a second and third round. The parades are well timed throughout the day. The nearly countless parades started before lunch and some days didn't end till well after dark, so bring BIG bags for all the beads and Moon Pies and more! The police and sheriffs were out in force -- never a problem with drunks, pick-pockets, etc. Not as wild as New Orleans but just as much fun and much safer.
