This was a fun stop. The guided tour was excellent -- docent very well informed. Very interesting perspective on Mobile's social life and customs. The collection of costumes from the royalty is impressive. Get there on the hour for the guided tour.

My husband and I were lucky enough to have a great tour of the Mobile Carnival Museum with a charming docent gentleman. I forgot his name but he was full of informative facts and delightful tales of the Mobile Mardi Gras. We enjoyed seeing all of the costumes and finery of the carnival participants. It made us want to come...

I am a native of Mobile and have enjoyed Mardi Gras my entire life though I was suprised by how very much I learned during my visit here. The is something for everyone. I suggest attending one of the Mobile Mystery Dinners often held at the Carnival Museum.
Spent a wonderful couple of hours here. The guided tours depart on the hour but we were a bit late and slotted onto one (we doubled back for the video segment later). We had no real expectations but were wowed by the size of the collection and the obvious care with which it has been assembled and curated. It was...

Had a nice and colorful hour and a half here. Interesting and a great gift shop. Kids area would be lovely way to entertain children.
I really didn't want to go here. In fact my wife and I had decided to bypass it. But on a morning walk on our last day of our visit we ended up in the park next door. Our teenage daughter wanted to go inside the museum. We decided to take the tour. An amazing collection. Our guide, an architect...

I learned a lot about Mardi Gras and the costumes and floats on display were fantastic. It only cost five dollars per person to get in and it was well worth the money.
You enter with a video of what goes on and then the historic tour of the Carnival season starts. The various courts over the years the unique hand made gowns, capes, etc are on display sharing each wearers family history. Plus there's a float downstairs for photo ops!
If you love Mardi Gras, or just happened to catch one of the many parades in Mobile and want to know a little bit more about the whole experience, then you really should stop at the Carnival Museum on Government Street in Mobile. The Museum is located in an old restored mansion with three floors of exhibits. Most of the...

If you like watching trains (the type royalty drags behind them) you'll love this museum. A great place to learn the history of Mobile's Mardi Gras by way of three floors of exhibits. Watch their movie, spend a couple hours gawking at elegant outfits, and then hit the gift shop for all your Mardi Gras needs.
