We stopped here with our kids and were a little disappointed. Wasn't much to see and there weren't any people dressed in circa costumes like I had read about. We weren't there 20 minutes.

First walk through the Fort, catch the view from the battery, duck your head into the fortifications to learn how the troops protecting this important section of the Gulf Coast lived. Once you’ve done that, go across the street and tour the Museum which will offer an in-depth understanding and appreciation of the marvelous history of Mobile.
The location is a bit odd. It is built over the tunnel to the interstate, so getting to it can be hard. Some of the doors to the various parts of the Welcome Center were locked, and while it is supposed to be handicapped accessible, they had one of the ramp doors locked as well.
It is located within walking...

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They even stayed after closing to accomodate my many questions.
How many places can you go to for free?? Fort Conde is one of them. The fort has volunteers that are at the area dressed in French battle attire that greet you at the gate and in the attraction. The attention to detail is very nice. There is a gift shop and many helpful staff to answer any questions you...

Three must-do's in Mobile:
1) visit Fort Conde Museum and Welcome Center
2) visit the Battleship USS Alabama and Submarine USS Drum (but skip the Drum if you're claustrophobic or need handicap access)
3) eat at Wintzell's Oyster House on Dauphin Street
Fort Conde Museum and Welcome Center is a nice introductory start to a visit in Mobile. It's not...

We loved Bellingrath Gardens-such a beautiful setting on the Fowl River. The Magnolia Classic Car show was a bonus to the gardens. Fort Conde is not to be missed, so well done and a capsule history of early Mobile. Dinner at the upscale restaurant in the Riverview Plaza Hotel restaurant with its great view of the waterfront was wonderful-excellent food.
We were very blessed to run into David, the care taker of the fort. He has a great vision for the uses of the fort to keep us educated in where we have come from to where we are going. He made us feel very special and went above and beyond. The fort has had flood damage from past hurricanes...

For Conde is a well done replica of a portion of the original fort. There isn't an admission charge and the site is handicapped accessable.
We stopped in here walking around Mobile, and they were closing up around 4:30, very small fort area, not much to see. Didn't make it inside to the Welcome Center, maybe there was more in there.
