4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2013 NEW

We took our 12 year old boys this June. The boys would have liked it more if there were more cannons and guns to look at instead of what was more the fort remnants. My husband really enjoyed it and would have stayed longer but the children got hot, despite the breeze off the bay. While we had no problems,... More

We like history, so this was fun and the location right at the mouth of Mobile Bay makes it pretty to see

I've been gong to Fort Morgan for almost 50 years now and find it as fascinating now as i did a young girl exploring it. It's been developed much more over the years with it's rich history captured and passed on to children still. The museum and gift shop is worth the time to visit. I've found many unexpected treasures... More

I am the "tour coordinator" for our group (traveling with my husband and two teenage daughters, and my sisters, their husbands and teenage sons and daughters) and this was on our list of things to do when recently vacationing in Gulf Shores. I wasn't sure if my daughters were going to enjoy this, but knew for sure my nephews and... More

This review is not on the historical site itself just the ferry ride to Dauphin Isl. Here's the deal pickle, Its 35 min long (nice amt of time) Things practical parents need to be aware of; There is no shade or place to sit. It is totally worth it to pay the fee to bring your car. We walked on... More

Our family toured the Civil War fort while on vacation to Orange Beach. We took the candlelight tour which had people in era attire leading it. We loved it. Very informative of how the fort has been used even during the World Wars. If you plan on going I suggest reading the book by Al Lacy " A Heart Divided".... More

Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead! Historical fort in Alabama. Learn it's history from English occupation through the American Civil War and beyond. Also a nice place to spend the day at the beach. If you are adventurous, when you're through touring the fort and vicinity take a ride on the auto ferry to Dauphine Island.

This place has a little something for everyone. For the history buffs, the fort is well preserved for both its Civil War history and its more modern additions. There isn't a whole lot to be said about the museum other than it is informative. Nothing to really catch your eye. For the person who loves scenic views, this place is... More

I recommend this as something to do before it warms up enough to go to the beach. It's always cool to take a step into the history of the United States!

Admitted: we are not big military history buffs. But, we have been to several of the Gulf Coast forts, and enjoyed them. But Fort Morgan, not so much. First, paid $28 for four adults to get onto the grounds, access the very small museum and give ourselves a self-guided tour. You are given a brochure/map which we nearly lost several... More
