Finally a museum that evoked my interest......Beautiful stories about successful and unsucessful attempts to climb the Himalayas. Well laid out and explained. For me, a must visit!

Both the zoo and the Mountaineering Institiute are well worth a visit. They have lots of photos of Everest expeditions and a good model of the himalayas. Well done to Tensing Norgay

A lovely collection of mountaineering gear.A fine collection of photographs. We just don't see Tenzing norgay's statue and Tomb, but we see the "never say die" attitude of the mountaineering legend(s)

They have a full exhibit of many things starting from the tools used by Tenzing who climbed Mount Everest along with other intersting things. They also display many great facts about the Himalayan Mountain Range, like the list of Peaks in every zones etc. This place makes one interested to learn more about the Himalayan Range.

A little but well displayed museum such that I learned more than I first expected. It is included in the zoo visit, with no extra charges.

Definitely worth a visit, dont miss the displays of the handwritten journal records of how they discovered the various mountains of the Himalayas. The interactive display of the huge Himalaya mountain range and the lights on the various peaks are very educational.

HMI hosts every information about mountaineering. They have tried to display most minute exhibits. If you read the information written on the display boards carefully, need not waste money on guides. Hats off ti HMI

The amount of information about mountaineering, the Himalayas and the expeditions to conquer the Everest itself make it a must visit. Access to the wall and a possible 101 would have been great additions.

Cool little museum which is free to enter from the zoo! It is very informative about all of the expeditions to try and conquer Everest.

This is not what it's hyped up to be. The cases are not very well maintained, and there's no one around to answer any questions. This is a rather small museum on two floors with a huge tourist trap at the end. If you've ever done any trekking, hiking, or mountain climbing, then you've probalby seen most of this stuff... More
