Fortunately both of us are fit enough that this trip wasn't a problem but be advised there is a lot of steps at this temple. We saw a lot of people suffer as the wether was hot and humid. The view is well worthwhile however and the old temple pools /water garden is very cool More

Be prepared. Arrive early. Take your water supplies and a hat. Not for the fainthearted, though amazingly we found several intrepid 70 year olds up there. The initial climb is stepped and longer than that for example to the Dambulla Temple. The second part is on caged stairs, which while safe is not for those who are claustrophobic. And the... More

Sigiria rock is for sure must. Prepare for 30USD entrance fee, no map (just go with others) and steep uphill climb. Route is one half on ground and one half on iron stairs. If you dont like height reconsider it well and look for some photo of the stairs first, because you WILL have problem. But its completely worthy everythink... More

Don' t leave Sri Lanka without having climbed Sigiriya! You will definitely sweat a lot - but it is worth it. This place is definitely one of the highlights of the country. Take your time, walk through the lower parts of the site, visit the museum (admission included in entrance fee) and DON'T take a guide or one of the... More

I think many tourists who visit Lion Rock (Citadel of Sigiriya) do not realize that the ticket for this site actually includes admission to this museum. It is a little hidden away but has a great collection of archeological artifacts and animations of what Lion Rock might have looked like. I would really recommend checking out this place before climbing... More

Now you take to our best world heritance of Sgiriya. Sigiria, another fantastic world heritance site in Sri Lanka is though of as the ‘eighth wonder of the world’. When you enter Sigiriya you can see wonderful small tanks beside the road aligned by a picturesque forest from which you will hear the sound of birds. At first you can... More

If you are up for a good work out, then come here! It's definitely not short of any stairs but at the end when you reach the top and you see Sri Lanka in front of you it is amazing. It has also served as many film back drops such as Indiana Jones just to name one! More
