Crowded as usual and situated in the heart of Kandy. Many varieties of plants and flowers and the garden is very spacious. So much to walk around and a huge green garden inside to relax. Well recommended for family and children to visit
Great to get out of the city and visit these gardens - easy to get to by bus, though a bit tricky to find the right bus (there are several that go there) on the way out. No need for a guide - much nicer to take your time and visit - we spent the whole afternoon. Particularly enjoyed the...

Beautifully landscaped and kept gardens. Full of interesting plants with several very impressive palm avenues. The Bamboo and Palm collections are notable. On the day I visited there were many wedding parties having their pictures taken which made for great photos as their costumes were very colourful. A lovely place for a few hours or a picnic.
These Gardens are one of the most beautiful i ever visited worldwide and I recommend spending at least a day in there. Funny enough, the entrance fee is excessive for foreigners compared to locals. For students, the difference is over a factor 80! We only spend half a day in there, but i hope to be able to return one...

Once you're inside it's hassle free. In the morning, it's really peaceful. Lots of variety of plants which are very well laid out plus some colonial architecture which enhances the vistas. River borders 1 side of it and there's a lake. It was based on Kew Gardens in London but the Sri Lankan climate is a little better so the...

The Royal Botanical garden must definitely be in your tour itinerary even if you are not a nature lover for the simple reason that you will be the newest lover of Nature after the visit
If you like orchids, you'll enjoy the orchid house. Otherwise, the chief attraction is the romantic young couples out for a stroll! Very nice gardens, although a bit pricey esp once you have paid for the tuk tuk. It's no Kew, though, so if you're not easily impressed by big trees, perhaps skip it.
What a place : a joy for photographers who not only want to spend a lovely stroll in a lush and spacious botanical garden with an enormous diversity of plants, flowers and trees, but also birds, insects and other wildlife...
we liked the pleasant restaurant with outside tables looking out over a very large grassed area where the local school children come for recreation and in the middle is the famous weeping fig tree. A point of interest was the trees planted by famous people, royalty and prime-ministers. It is a very pleasant walk around the extensive gardens which are...
