Chaminda Jayakody is an outstanding and genuine artist. His prices are reasonable and quality is beyond that of any other shop in Kandy. However inorder to get a cheaper price, visit the shop by yourself, as it is customary to give the tour guide a commision in all shops, this being no exception.

There are many beautiful batik designs available. CJ was very friendly and helpful. Our short time spent at the outlet was the most memorable time at Kandy.

I would recommend visiting the official...

I'm very proud to have some creations of this artist. Chaminda is so patient, he takes time to explain his work, and more overall, he is one of the best...

The father has handed over (well nearly we think) to his son who explained the process and what he was currently working on. We were short of rupees so negotiated on price but if we...

I went there today, and it was one of my highlights. You cannot ask for more from a batik shop than Jayamali. CJ is very helpful and leave you space to think and decide. He also spent lots of time explaining to process of making the batik, without expecting a purchase. He came across as someone who does have a...

We made a point of visiting Jayamali Batiks. We were very happy not just with the beautiful original artwork, but also that the proprietor was happy to spend a lot of time with us telling about how they were made and the history of the family studio. Was definitely worth a visit.
