The Embekke Devalya is a very nice hinduism temple about ten kilometers outside of Kandy. It is very old as it was built in the 14th/15th century. The wooden columns consist of carvings with dancers, animals, etc. We highly recommend to combine the Embekke Devalaya with the other temples such as Lankatilake and Gadaladeniya. not many tourists go here so the place is pretty empty. the temple is made entirely from wood. amazing how the wood work was done. the carvings on the pillar is really detailed. entrance fee is SLR200 per person More
