Nothing especially outstanding about this lake. If in Kandy you cannot miss it, it is the centre piece of the town. Nice for a stroll around. look out for the water monitors(lizards) on the lake shore. Lots of heavy traffic so lots of exaust fumes to cope with as you stroll. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic now a... More

The lake itself is beautiful, it contains a lot of life as well. Birds around it have their own tree across the Temple of Tooth. You can see the Temple very clearly from across the lake (see picture), from around where you stand to see the temple right across from the lake there is a nice small antique shop with... More

On our visit, a TV crew were filming Kandyan dancers as an advertisment for the local rugby sevens competition, all very vibrant and colourful. The lake is probably best viewed late evening or early morning when birds abound. More

If you have more than 1 day in Kandy - I'd definitely recommend a walk around the lake. It really doesn't matter whether it is a sunny or rainy day. You'll definitely enjoy it! More

The Lake is a small reservoir in the middle of a midsized city, with loud and reeking traffic all around it. Its best feature is its ability to reflect the very scenic Buddha figure on the hill above, or the semi-scenic Temple of the Tooth. Its worst feature is its color and odor. Don't come expecting size, grandeur, or inspiration.... More

Due to Kandy's pollution and traffic congestions we may have not been in the best conditions to experience the lake "atmosphere". We went there during the evening. There were a lot of tourists buses for the "Danses". The security staff of the gateway to the tooth temple have not been friendly. We could not find any magical atmosphere. The lake... More
