Nothing especially outstanding about this lake. If in Kandy you cannot miss it, it is the centre piece of the town. Nice for a stroll around. look out for the water monitors(lizards) on the lake shore. Lots of heavy traffic so lots of exaust fumes to cope with as you stroll.

On our visit, a TV crew were filming Kandyan dancers as an advertisment for the local rugby sevens competition, all very vibrant and colourful. The lake is probably best viewed late evening or early morning when birds abound.

If you have more than 1 day in Kandy - I'd definitely recommend a walk around the lake. It really doesn't matter whether it is a sunny or rainy day. You'll definitely enjoy it!

walking around this beautiful lake takes u past one of buddhism's most sacred sites as well as through the hussle and bussle of locals going about their daily business. beautiful!

The Lake is a small reservoir in the middle of a midsized city, with loud and reeking traffic all around it. Its best feature is its ability to reflect the very scenic Buddha figure on the hill above, or the semi-scenic Temple of the Tooth. Its worst feature is its color and odor.
Don't come expecting size, grandeur, or inspiration....

Due to Kandy's pollution and traffic congestions we may have not been in the best conditions to experience the lake "atmosphere". We went there during the evening.
