Try to be taken round by the guide who was informative and interesting. A real slice of colonial history. Recently being renovated but with limited funds.

Our thanks to Charles, the groundskeeper, for his most excellent, intriguing, enlightening, mesmerizing and touching accounts of the many colonists buried there. Along with a stop at Helga's Folly, spending time with Charles may well be the best way to spend time in Kandy!

We visited the Garrison and Met Charles Carmichael and his wife. He is doing a great job keeping the cemetery open and he is a wealth of knowledge. Wild boar had dug up a lot of grass the night before we went so he had a lot of work to do to clean it all up again. We saw monkeys...

Very quiet, just above the lake behind the Temple. Some tombs are well preserved
We sat under a tree and ate mangoes enjoying the sounds of nature and the peacefulness of the place. Until hordes of monkeys arrived and wanted all on the tree above us. They weren't aggressive, just too many, so we escaped.

This place was fascinating. Not much to look at and a little out of the way, but well worth a visit for the history. The caretaker amazed us with his knowledge - he could resite inscriptions and knew the story behind many of the very sad deaths.
