If you find Zoroastrians interesting, then do go to this temple. Albeit simple, it is extraordinary to think the same fire is going after all these years. I was lucky to see a holy man doing a ceremony around the fire whilst I was there. YOu won't need longer than 30 minutes to visit.

If you're in Yazd go and visit the temple.. There's the Holy Flame inside. The building was built in 1940s so it's not spectacular.

The place is quite modern and not especially interesting. Just the fire an some tourists. As I understood, zoroastrians do not want their religion to be too obvious.

I liked the place because I am interested in Zoroastrian religion and think it's interesting that this fire has been burning for 1500 years, but apart from the fire there is absolutely nothing to see here, so I won't recommend it to other travellers.

A visit to Yazd would be incomplete without seeing the Ateshkadeh -- the Zoroastrian Fire Temple. The sacred flame is said to have been burning since approx. 470 AD (over 1,540 years long). The flame is behind a glass window that you can step in front of, and watch the fire burn continuously. This Fire Temple is fairly new --... More

The building is simple and elegant with a small pool of water in front of it. It is within a well-tended garden, and within is a fire said to have been kept continuously burning for 1500 years! The simplicity and strength of the faith give it a strong sense of appeal. The place is well maintained and provides a fascinating... More

This is a very interesting place to see the holy place for Zoroastrians , the ancient religion of Iran. It's better to know the ancient history of Iran and Achamened empire to understand the importance.

This is a lovely place for people interested in ancient religions. This is one the oldest dating back to achaemenid dynasty I guess. But the most fascinating point about it's the great flame. It's there intact!

In the recent 35 years ( after the Islamic revolution ), Islam has been emphasized by goverment and regime in a radical way, which is in a complete contradiction with majority of Iranians. Due to the unlimited power of the goverment, criticizing their manner is almost impossible. As an anti-thesis, a vast interest has grown to national and pre-islamic cultural... More
