This little river is probably more spectacular when after a great deluge it rampages down its bed, but I happened to be in Pai just a month or so before the start of the rainy season, when it was barely flowing, sleepily expecting its glory days to come, nothing spectacular to rave about. More

If you go in high season the water is low and flows quite slow. All the dirt from the town ends up in the river. It does stink and it is far from clear. More

I love Pai and cant fault it, the rivers not amazing, its not clean but its calm and goes with the relaxing atmosphere that Pai has. You can raft down it or sit in the restaurants and chill by it, up to you. More

The rafts are built at the beginning of the trip by being lashed together. they dismantle them at the end of the trip with machetes. Good idea to wear waterproof shoes as rafts sink a little and your feet do get wet. It's fine though. The river is very tame. It's not a particularly pretty trip. There are better rafting... More
