Lugu lake is a beautiful place, definately worth a visit to escape crowds of Lijiang. If you are going there, stay at least 2 nights, otherwise the trip is too long and the stay is too short. After a 5 hour bus ride through mountain passes and switchback narrow mountain roads, the view of the lake was spectacular. There are many places to stay, but the hotels and guesthouses on the peninsula were very nice and quiet with grew views of the lake. The 2 hour wooden boat ride was interesting. this is a beautiful place full of culture and beauty of nature.To learn Mosuo oddities and to watch the show-<love song of flower house>. I loved the show very much. This trip start from Lijiang, takes 2 to 3 days. You can try local food as well.

we went for horse riding but were unwilling to pay £30 odd pounds for an hour riding on horses that are obviously looked after but there will not be any prizes for the standard of care given or £15 to go in a boat for an hour on the lake.
