Really interesting valley. At subset the hills and crevices turn a brilliant golden orange - beautiful. There is quite a crowd at sunset taking pictures. It's worth the walk to the biggest viewpoint for both less crowds and better views.

Strange lunar landforms eroded by eons of wild weather crowd the horizon; bleak dunes and distant volcanoes amp up the surreality. For maximum impact, visit at sunset, when the valley is bathed in an unearthly purple, pink and gold glow.
well, go, go again and just feel and love it. Shame that they closed the hiking route but still a wonderfull place to start your journey to the outer world of Atacama
we made the tour in the morning, had breakfast there and all the valley was for us...no other tourist at all, no other vehicles, just the valley and us. All tourist visit the place for sunset then is crowded and difficult to take photos. Incahuasi makes this different tour, unforgettable!
Best tour because it was so beautiful. Words can't describe the surroundings. Be sure to add to your list of things to do.
the views at sunset cannot be described, but be prepared to hike though sand. I preferred my open toed sandals to others hiking boots. Everyone's shoes filled with sand, but at least with my sandals, it was easy to get rid of the sand versus everyone else having to take their shoes off.
I went alone in automn in the afternoon and sunset and loved it. It is though work sometimes but feasible and the fact that you can stop when you want is worth it. Take lots of water with you though. I rented a bike at km zero in the main street doe 3500/ half day,and it was a really good...

The sheer aura of the valley was awesome as in part the only sound that could be heard was the cracking of the salt. The whole area is geographically dramatic and watching the sunset was one of the most memorable moments of my trip.
It's peaceful and beautiful to visit this site, and well worth it. If you aim for sunset, there will be hundreds of other people there too, but there's room for everyone so don't let that put you off. Be sure to take warm clothing - it gets cold as the sun sets. Wear closed shoes as the walk up is...

Get a bike in the afternoon so you can get it down to about 3000 peso. We set of about 4pm but you probably want to set off about 3pm to give yourself some extra time. Take a torch as there is a little cave to get through at the first stop (starts off as a canyon). Then head up...
