Claudio Coutinho Trail is located at the Urca district in Rio, right in front of the famous Sugar Loaf. The area is somehow supervised by the military, since its HQ is right on the entrance of the trail. The trail is on the edge of the Sugar Loaf mountain and one of the preferred area for jogging. Another famous (... More

You can take your bike, lock it up in the racks provided at the starting point and go for a nice walk, nothing strenuous. Very safe neighbourhood, picturesque beach. Decent food at the Clube Militar nearby. From this trail you can hike up to the first stage of the Sugar Loaf cable car station. More

The Claudio Coutinho trail is a must-do for active travelers in Rio. It was one of the highlights of my trip. I love hiking - this was a perfect blend of steep uphill paths with some scrambling. We were alone on the trail, which was perfect. The views are breathtaking. Don't forget to bring a banana to feed the monkeys...... More

a very popular trail for locals, we were able to see native monkeys as well as lots of local characters. The views were excellent and the exercise felt good as well. This is a moderate hike up to the top and you should wear good shoes - not flipflops or sandals. More

Not too long, but you will be in touch with nature, and the "monkeys" that are all over. Bring a banana and let them come eat on your hand. Don't pet them, just let them eat. Great!!! Great experience!!! More

A nice walk in Rio surrounding the Sugar Loaf. That is Claudio Coutinho Trail. Claudio was the coach of brazilian soccer team in 1978 world cup. Died from a hear attack. This trail offers you a lovely view of the entrance of the bay that the portuguese sailors discovered in the XVI century. More

This trail is just beside the Sugar Loaf, no more than a three minute walk will take you there. It is also know as The Bem-te-vi Way. It is very safe because the army takes care of it, there are rookies jogging there all day long. You can ask them for information, if you need some. On the right side... More
