If you like to shop, if you like art, if you like to people watch - do NOT miss the Hippie Fair. It's only open on Sunday afternoons so plan your trip to get here. They have so much cool stuff. Then eat at the House of Fejoada right next door! More

Great way to spend the afternoon! All kinds of crafts offered in the square. It is open even on not so nice days. Lots of leather and jewelry. They will barter. Some repeat items, but a lot of original hand work. Not a lot of food. Paintings can be found in the center. More

Part crafts by local artists, and part art by local artists, this fair is open all day Sunday a block from Ipanema beach. There are very nice things like jewelry and leather goods, but much more. The quality is good and the prices are reasonable. There is color everywhere in the art and crafts, families wandering about, and a nice... More

They call this the Hippie Fair, but it's a general crafts market. The best part of which is that these are really crafts, locally made items. Around the outside are hand made crafts and in the centre there are art pieces. More

This is a great market for shopping. It's huge!!! Only open on the weekends. Get your goodies and then take a stroll along Ipanema to work off the dessert you can buy at the market entrance. Don't look for food here (other than sweets), but you will find jewelry, art, leather goods, etc. Many of the merchants take credit cards.... More

If you go to the Hippie Market in Rio, you will be pleased with the products, the people and the prices. They have leather, art work, food, lots of tourist junk and clothing. Most people speak English. If they don't, the window of their calculator provides the prices. We went on a very hot day and the shade provided all... More

A great walk on Sunday morning after a good night sleep ; ) Start walking on the boulevard Ipanema or Copacabana; one way of the road is closed for traffic and taken over by freewheeling Carioca; skating, bicycling, running, flirting, boarding and enjoying people! Treat somebody on a brunch or coffee just because you are happy and proud (like most... More

Every Sunday this fair in Ipanema is full of people selling hand crafts of various kind. Of course you pay extra because of the location, but the atmosphere is so special that it is a "must" to go there. You can also buy your lunch there. Especially the "Bahia" food is wonderful. More

Local artisans are here for you. As an itinerant art dealer, I thought there was some very good art here, especially in the middle. Bring cash, reals, because you just can deal with credit cards too well. You will see a variety of fine art to folk art. There are also leather goods, clothing and other local art here. You... More
