Very easy access in and out. Kids loved the planes right overhead. Portable toilets and trash cans, park benches and easy access to mt Vernon trail.

Bring a blanket and stretch out to watch the planes go by. Great place to have a picnic lunch on a beautiful spring day.
I have a six-year airplane loving boy. Watching these planes come in for a landing is just a ton of fun. Loud and windy!
The wind on the day I was there was from the north, so the landings can from the south. Take offs are cool to see but landing would be a much closer experience. In winter and early spring, bring hats/gloves. VERY windy conditions.
It's fun for about 15 minutes watching planes taking off and landing from close up. And if the wind is blowing right so landings come in over your head. This is a fun stop to get out and watch the plans take off or land. Also great if you enjoy taking photo of plans. Hope this helps.

As a life long resident of Arlington, I have been fortunate to visit Gravelly Point on numerous occasions. The park is easily accessed by either foot, bike, or car, (large parking lot). It's a great location to watch the planes land, people watch, jog, perhaps fish, play soccer, or just watch the time go by. There is also a concrete...

Sitting on the Potomac River (The Duck Tour amphibians use the launch ramp) and at the North End of the Reagan National Airport Runway you feel you can almost touch the landing planes. You may need earplugs but I've never known an 8 year old who didn't think iot was the best thing in DC (actually VA)
If you like aviation and getting a close-up of planes landing / taking off, this is the place for you! Especially in the summer, there are always lots of people relaxing, picnicking, playing sports and hanging around to watch the planes come in and out.
Also, it's along the Mount Vernon multi-use trail...so it can be a great run /...
