The Texas State Capitol is a must do for Austin visitors and residents. Some time is required, so don't be in a hurry. The building has been beautifully restored. The grounds surrounding the Capitol have many monuments worth seeing, including the newest honoring Tejano contributions to the state. More

The visitor center is free. Exhibits are okay. There is a gift shop and a penny press machine. The workers are very nice.You can take the strairs or the elevator to see the exhibits. Give yourself at least an hour to see all of the Visitors Center ---longer if you want to visit the inside of the Capitol building. They... More

I visited the beautiful capital ground and walked up to the visitor center to see what all it housedl. It was a beautiful building with a few exhibits and visitor information inside. The grounds surrounding are beautiful. The grounds were a nice place to reflect on my day in Austin. More

The visitors center is free and a great place to find information. If you are looking for information on Texas history or just how to get around town this is a great place to go. They also had information on other centers around town and things to do in other areas of Texas. It actually led me to the Bob... More

The workers in the visitors center were very nice and informative. We received lots of pamphlets and information for many places throughout Texas. They explained some useful information before visiting the Capitol. And you can see the flag that flew over the Alamo when it fell. If you want to know about Texas, this is a good place to start.... Even if you have reservations you must get in the security line at the front door in time to get THROUGH security INTO the building by your reservation time. A reservation does not entitle you to go to head of the security line. Once inside it's all planned out very well by the guides. Our particular guide was very nice... More
