Anahuac has made great strides in coming back from the last hurricane! New boardwalks and roadways are great! Wonderful birding is very accessble! More

We were driving from Houston headed towards Beaumont on I-10. at exit 810 we saw a sign for Anahuac NWR. We found the visitor center about 2 miles off I-10. “A real wildlife refuge.”

This one is waaay out there. Very primitive. People from all across America come here during certain times of the year to see the birds as this is on the migratory path. There are lots of alligators to see too. Don't approach them unless you can outrun a horse.That' how fast the alligators are. You can fish here too! I... More
