Daigoji in the autumn is absolutely stunning and nowhere near as crowded as the more central temples. The justly famous image of the Bentendo Hall, pond and bridge, surrounded by the most beautiful autumn foliage, is one that will always stay with me.

Daigo Temple is located about a ten minute walk uphill from the Daigo Station of the Kyoto Subway. Note that taking the subway only to this line from Kyoto Station is a rather long trip. It might be faster to take a combination of JR and subway (although the price would be higher). It is NOT well sign marked from...

it's a lot quieter than the main attractions and mostly Japanese tourists come here, but if you have already seen all the other main attractions and have a lot of time on your hands, you can come here and have a look. you have to walk a bit from the subway station (with the same name) but it's not too...
