“A beautiful surprise...”

I went here for Palm Sunday Mass. The Mass was to start at about 3:30pm (for English). It was good I got there early. The church was already half full by 3pm when I arrived. By 3:30 it was standing room only. It is not the biggest or prettiest church, but it is definitely worth seeing if you like church... More

“Who knew? Gothic Cathedral in GZ!”

Made it here for Mass in English, via the GZ subway and a short walk. Truly magnificent inside and out. The English Mass was heavily attended by Nigerians so the African male choir was fabulous! Definitely worth the effort to go. Also surrounded by many little market stores so lots to see and do before and after Mass. More

“Tranquility amongst the chaos”

This was a perfect place to visit on a rainy day. The wholesale and retail area around the cathedral were draining. Finding this quiet space away from the mayhem made our day! More

Wonderful old building -- made of stone and built by the French over a hundred years ago. A smaller, near-replica of Notre Dame in Paris. Recently renovated: the new stained-glass windows are lovely; and the chandeliers impressive and uplifting, esp. when viewed from the pews. Sacred Heart Cathedral is a Catholic church in Guangzhou. English mass on Sundays is at 3:30 p.m. Arriving at 3:15 p.m., we thought we were early enough to get good seats. But every pew was taken.
