When I walked out of my hotel in Kazan, this was the first building I saw, my jaw dropped in awe. It was so unusual and yet really beautiful. The main thing that sets this cathedral apart from similar cathedrals in other parts of Russia is the style used in the decoration of the cathedral. Apparently an Italian architect was involved with the building of this church and this is particualrly noticeable from the decorations on the exterior of the cathedral.
