Alas! If I had only taken the time to learn enough Russian to get by I would not have been such a babe in the woods . I am enamoured of Russia. Next time--and there will be a next time--I will take a small course in learning the language. It would have enriched this trip 200%.

The palace is beautiful, the costumes are gorgeous, the dancing is wonderful, the music enjoyable -- a fully satisfying tourist entertainment show and historic palace site.

If you visit St Petersburg make sure you go to the concert Feel Yourself Russian. folk dances and songs - great music, light-hearted, entertaining cast. They serve vodka with caviar at interval and it's in the old Nikolaevsky palace - very atmospheric.
