Just returned from visiting this wonderful place. The tour guide, a young woman, was fantastic, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I am planning to come again and bring visiting friends. The story of the Seward family and the story of this house, all the furnishings, all the things brought by Secretary Seward from his travels are amazing.I am very grateful to the... More

Open the door and be swept back in history. Seward had the forethought to buy Alaska and so many thought he was crazy for that. Serving under President Lincoln there are just numerous stories. A definite must see if you are in the area. How blessed we are that a family member made this into a museum to share with... More

What a wonderful piece of history. Great tours given by the docents about an American many people don't know. Senator, governor, secretary of state who was a key part of lincoln's cabinet. The house stayed in seward's family until the 1950s, so everything is personal family memorabilia and furniture. It's a magnificent house with beautiful gardens. If only the walls... More

My wife and I went to the Seward House on the recommendation of my brother-in-law prior to a family wedding in Auburn. We're both very glad we did! This house is a historical gem - even if you are not a Civil War buff (and I am not) - this house will impress as an astonishingly well-preserved piece of US... More

The Seward Family Museum protects the legacy of a truly inspiring American, his extraordinary wife, and their children and grandchildren. Every room in the home, from the "old kitchen" stop on the Underground Railroad to the Alaska room and the extensive diplomatic gallery is a testament to a historic achievement. Still, surrounded by so many of their possessions, it feels... More

This nineteenth century home is not only nearly perfectly preserved but it still contains most of the original furniture and other contents such as clocks, books, and silverware just as they were in Seward's day. The guide was knowledgeable and informative. It was fascinating to see the actual carriage from which Seward fell resulting in his injury not long before... More

We got the the Seward House just about 4:30 pm and it closes at 5. We were invited on the last tour and were SO glad we did. The guide was so highly knowledgeable and passionate about the Sewards that it made for a surprising and wonderful experience. We will go back with friends this summer. If you are a... More

We were taken here by two local friends. We personally had no idea it existed, or indeed very much about the subject. This attraction and the tour guide who showed us round changed all of that. Enormously interesting to be surrounded by original furniture, fittings and accessories that were heirlooms of the Seward family. Well worth the visit.

My wife and i and another couple decided to take the tour. My friend is a Lincoln buff and was very excited to take this tour. We were not disappointed. On the day we took the tour it was a special Lincoln tour that was $5 per person. The tour was very informative and the tour guide was very knowledgeable.... More
