My wife and I visited the museum two weeks ago, spending half a day there. The exhibits are static on the history of film/cameras/TV set development and interactive for much more, good for all ages. I was surprised at how early was made the discovery that an image is retained by the brain for a fraction of a second so... More

It's the history of movies (and TV), and it's a great off-the-beaten path trip. It's only a couple of subway stops out of Manhattan, and then a short walk. The basic galleries take a couple of hours, then there's movies you can see as part of admission. Plenty of hands on stuff for older kids, and interesting revolving exhibits (when... More

This is a small museum that you could do in serveral hours. There are a number of places eat nearby (studio square beer garden, UNOs, Applebee's as well as many other places in Astoria). There are a couple of interactive activities for the kids to do. We signed up for the stop motion animation workshop (about half hour to an... More

Although I thought the Muppets exhibit lacked one thing (muppets) it did show the inner working of Jim Henson's mind in his notes and scribbles and drawings. However, I felt all of that could have been shown just as easily in a book. They really could have had more of the muppets we've come to love, even some of the... More

Within walking distance of a subway, this fun half day trip is a must have on your NYC adventure. It doesn't matter who you are, this museum is enough to satisfy everyone. Look at the schedule and see if there are any movies, lessons, and demonstrations. You cant miss those they add a whole new layer to the experience. When... More

Good exhibits, interesting history of film. They have equipment from the beginnings of the industry. They have a booth where you can practice doing dubbing on a film - fun. Rotating exhibits. When I went they were doing a retrospective on the Muppets. Loved seeing the costumes for Miss Piggy. :) More

Fun museum showcasing movie paraphenalia - The Mask that Jim Carrey wore in the movie, the mohawk wig that Robert DeNiro wore in Taxi Driver...costumes like Mork's red outfit in Mork & Mindy.....classic video games like Pong and Donkey Kong. It's a good rainy day or cold weather NYC attraction. More
