It was a very interesting area to see communities surviving around palm oil plantation. The rainforest canopy and floor were present but the middle layer was decimated by over crowding of animals into what is left of the forest. The signature animals of the forest were there and in this part of the world they are interesting species. The individual... More

Our chalet was about 50 feet above the river with air con (in the jungle!!). To sit on the balcony with a G&T in one hand and binoculars in the other looking at the wildlife like hornbills and kingfishers - Can life get any better? To reach the resort is a rocky ride from Lahad Datu which takes about 90... More

Liked - the animals! Gibbons, mouse deer, reticulated python, flying squirrel, owls, leopard cats!! Disliked - we didn't actually get to walk any of the trails because a bull elephant was in the area and the food arrangement wasn't the best but still a great place to visit and stay! More

We visited Tabin Wildlife Reserve for 2 day/one night package during July 2011. Our only regret was we didn't stay longer. Staff are very friendly, accommodation excellent & food was the best we've eaten through our travels in Sabah. Our guides Ricky & Esrael were very knowledgeable of the local flora & fauna with safety foremost in all activities. Wild... More

A suitable place for nature lovers. Visitors can observe the animals in the wild by jungle trekking. Mud volcanoes in the forest reserve is a must to visit. We booked a 3 day/2 nights package. Very nice lodge, good facilities, great guides! We had a couple of guided jungle trekkings and 3 safaris. We decided to go to Tabin and not to Danum Valley because it's half the price and it's better for wildlife watching. And there was a lot of wildlife: gibbons, macaques, civet cats, hornbills, eagles,... More

Tabin Wildlife Reserve is suppose to be a retreat from the Palm plantations, and traffic in Sabah Borneo, an ecotourist lodge that boasts wildlife viewing and relaxation in secondary rain forest. Bottom line: The guides seemed immature, unknowledgeable and unorganized. Or guide arrived late in the morning and never gave us discrete plans so we were always wondering what we... More

All i can say is that this place is awesome. The food was great. The Night Safari was interesting. The lodge was okay... air-conditioned and all.... but the Management should give extra attention to the Hill Lodges. Maybe visitors rarely occupy these hill lodges, the Management seems to give less attention to them in terms of maintenance. Special thanks to... More

My husband and I visited Tabin hoping to see numerous wildlife but unfortunatley the elephants had already left a few weeks ago. The birds were very few and far between ,we saw a few monkeys and large lizards but we were disappointed in the amount of sightings. Of course it is a wildlife sanctuary and you cannot rely on the...
