Each year the cities have a fireworks (hanabe) competition. When Yokohama does its display, Yamashita Park is an excellent place to relax and watch the display. Keep in mind the Japanese take fireworks to a level far beyond what you might have experienced in the U.S.; the display in Yokohama this year lasts about 45 minutes and over 150,000 fireworks... It is a stretch of grass next to Yokohama port...............that's it. Hard to get too excited about a park actually. More

The name may lead to disappointment, since there is little left to suggest the kind of park that many visitors may be used to in other countries. It might be more appropriate to think of it as a harbourside piazza. This is a place where many people congregate and many varied activities take place throughout the year. It is usually... More

I liked to walk in the Yamashita Park after business day and relax looking at the harbor. There are many nice trees and convenient sites to breathe a fresh ocean air. More

If you find yourself with baby, toddler or very young children, worth taking a break at the kids play area in Happy Lawson (convenient store). You can get drinks and snacks from the cafe and sit back and watch your kids play with others. The store also stocks a good selection of baby/kids related snacks and goods. More

I wouldn't go to Yokohama just to visit this park - but as part of a trip to Chinatown it's worth a visit. Buy a take away coffee and go and sit on one of the benches facing the water in Tokyo Bay and people watch. You'll probably see someone pushing their dog along in a pram. You can buy... More

The park is a lovely place for a Sunday stroll, or to have a take away lunch on the grass. The views offer great photo opportunities! We walked from Chinatown and back across to Pan Pacific Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. More

I found Yamashita Park to be really lovely. It is on the bay so there is a nice cool breeze, and there is a convenience store there that sells food, drinks, and even alcoholic drinks! The store also has an indoor play area for the kids and outside there is seating that overlooks the water. The park itself has a... More
