The Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh, Vietnam is definely worth the visit. Try to read about it before going there so that you enhance your experience. The best way to go is with a taxi, that way one can stop along the way as many times as you would like. one can also combine it with a visit to... More

It was neat to see the big colorful temple and the mostly empty spaces, but that's about it. I got some neat pictures. Try to hire a driver if you can. It's a long drive from Ho Chi Minh City (about an hour), and you can stop wherever and whenever you want. At noon is when they have their big... More

It's a mix of three different beliefs, but if you go there to experience something religious, let's not hope too much. In fact, the most interesting feature of the place is the colorful decoration and architecture. More

I think the Cao Dai temple is really cool, but if you are coming all the way from HCMC, it is a long way to go to just to see a temple. I would try to also visit Black Mountain if you get to Tay Ninh. More

The Great Temple of Cao Dai is worth a vist for historical and religious reasons. Founded in 1926, during the French colonial domination of Indochina, the Cao Dai faith seeks to blend elements of four different religions into a monotheistic faith with a structure modeled on the Roman Catholic church. As such, this temple (there are many others in Vietnam,... More

I felt uncomfortable here, witnessing one of this sect's services along with many other tourists. It seemed more like a closed cult - worshippers were marshalled and it all seemed a little - I can't quite find the right word - but I didn't like it! And why encourage an audience to observe them? Often combined with a trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels, the Cao Dai Temple is a place of sensory overload in a lovely part of Vietnam. It is especially vibrant on sundays when special services are performed and costumed priests and practioners (all dressed in pure white) nod are joined by music and curious tourists. To call the Cao Dai... More

Something really different. If you do the temple and the tunnels in the same day it is a long day. Quite beautiful to look around and see the ceremonies from above the 'pilgrims'. I recommend this for sure if you have time. Might be nicer to just get a car and driver so you can stay as long as you... More
