If you are in Colonia why not go to the lighthouse and get a view of the town and BA. Entrance fee is about 1 dollar. The stairs are very small and there are people going up and down at the same time, which can be a bit annoying. Once you are at the top, it can get crowded, but... More

We were very excited about going to this attraction. First of all, we thought it was going to be a big Faro, and it is not like that. But, well, we still wanted to get up and see the awesome view that most of the reviews I read were talking about. We were surprised that they didn't let my 6... More

This is the place to see all the historic neighborhood. Though it's a little bit expensive for just getting in and see the view, it's a definite must, also you can see Buenos Aires from there and take a beautiful picture!

It is a nice view from the top, when you get there via a tight winding spiral staircase (as you'd expect for a lighthouse). Near the top it's a bit of a squeeze and headroom is a premium. But once you're at the top, there's a 360 degree view of the old town, the river plate, and the ferry port... More

After paying the attendant, you wait to be given permission to proceed up the steps. There are many very small steps..... The view from the top is excellent- all the way to Buenos Aires across the Rio Plate. The breeze up here was cooling also. The view gave you good pictures of the surrounding town. Worth the money to go... More

We climbed up the lighthouse, not expecting it to take too long, but surprisingly it took longer than expected. There was a mid-point where you could stop and go out on this small balcony which was nice but then you want to continue climbing up to the top. Then you need to go up this little ladder to the very... More

If you walk around in the old quarters of the city, you'll come across the lighthouse at some point. It's practically impossible NOT to. When you do, you absolutely HAVE to go inside. You'll come across a small desk with someone waiting patiently to charge you 20 Uruguayan pesos (The rough equivalent of a dollar) for a ticket that basically... More

Good view over the town and across the Rio de La Plata to the buildings of Buenos Aires just visible on the horizon.

You climb up the stairs all the way to the top. Nice view of the town. They would not let kids under 8 to go up.

The position of this farol, and the height it commands.... unesco has done a commendable job is restoring and giving this small place its past grandeur..
