We have been visiting Izmir for 6 years and are very impressed by the improvements to the Agora ,particularly the interpretation boards. If you are at all interested in the history of the town do visit but avoid the hottest part of the day as there is little shade.
Don't miss the Ottoman gravestones, some of which are really beautiful.
