Avanos is worth a half day visit! It is not about the tourists but local people living and hanging out there...more authentic and good shopping opportunities. We went on Friday, and had the chance to visit the local market, where local people go for veggies and other staff's shopping. That was an interesting place to visit. Also walking along the... More

Our guide drove us around wherever we wanted. He recommended many places and we visited them. Churches, ruins, old Christian underground cities. Places where pottery and jewelry are made. Avanos was part of this tour. Wonderful!!!!

don's buy plates in Avanos besides you could cut price excellence. Avanos is a beauty small town. peoples is not bad for help guest, but business man that sell plate is very sly, you must cut price 50% and then start to think about if you buy or not.

Do not buy your ceramics anywhere else in Capadoccia....we looked in all shops in Goreme and other areas Cavusin etc and the prices we thought we inflated...we then heard about Avanos being the pottery town and took the bus there, the prices here are fair the shops in general do not try and tell you your their best friend for... If you are a pottery lover, Avanos is the right place to go. Almost all excursions through Kapadokya make a stop in the small town of Avanos, allowing you to visit one or two of the famous pottery manufacturers studios. Fine vases and many many different articles are shown, exhibiting the grace and genuinity of Turkish art. The more elaborated,... More

Do not miss this museum! Mr. Galip is an artist and a lover. His studio and museum are dream-like and inspiring. You will get first-hand knowledge and demonstration on the traditional method of pottery production in Avanos, and you can also purchase quality pieces here. You will enjoy hospitality in beautiful surroundings, and you can not only experience, but contribute... More

Wonderful pottery and family run businesses. The prices reflect the fact that each piece is original art.

We stayed in Goreme so only went to Avanos for a day trip, but next time I think we might stay in Avanos! Such a pretty town, with a lovely river, and loads of fantastic pottery places. We went to one called 'Chez Hakan' and the owner was so gracious and welcoming! We were able to try the pottery wheel,... More

Chez Galip, a potter set up this museum in a cave over thirty years ago - and what did he put inside it? Locks of hair! Now, the museum has a Guinness record too. If you are in Goreme, this place warrants a visit for sure. I, naturally had a lock of my hair snipped off - like thousands of... More
