All I can say is, do not miss this. We nearly decided not to go, and how we would have regretted it. But go either early morning or after 4. It is magnificent and humbling, the churches are amazing. Don't forget to wear comfortable flat shoes, as there is a fair bit of walking, but all is very accessible More

It is just like being in the badlands of Montana or Alberta. Layered rock structures are amazing and the history of pigeon raising is intriguing. All of these are nothing compared to seeing the cave homes ancient people built or the ancient 8th/12th century christian secret churches. The Frescos are unbelievable. More

Great area for photography Tourist prices generally dearer than rest of non tourist Turkey. A world heritage site, with plenty of space to get away from the many visitors to this area. The Ihlara valley is a must for walkers walking the 12-14 kilometres from near the village of Ihlara. Worth paying a few Turkish Lira to do this. An... More

April is a great month for exploring this open air museum. It can become something of a furnace in the summer. The downside is that there are some who see this as the high season. the crowds can be large in the afternoon. Make sure that you see the Buckle church. Then go home and research the story of St.... It was an experience of a life time. Cappadocia was the highlight of the trip. We saw some of the oldest churches and the dark church which was an extra 8 Lira charge not included in the tour was definitely worth it. More

Make sure you go at lunch time to avoid the huge bus loads of tourist groups, since coping with them makes it take ages to get into each individual site. Pay the small extra fee for the Dark Church as it is gorgeous, filled with restored frescoes and unique. More
