we went on a tour of both Singer castle and Boldt Castle in the 1000 Islands. Singer castle is a fantasy castle based on a book titled "Woodstock." there are so many secret passages in it that it's not a question of if a room has a secret passage but where. Boldt castle was built by a Gilded Age millionaire... More

This is a very attractive and fun educational place to see, It reminds me of the castles in Europe. It has a very sad story to it. I spent a good 3 hrs there just taking in the castle the grounds and the views. So if you visit Alexandria Bay or surrounding area (Candian side) its a must see.

Such a beautiful and sad story surrounds Boldt Castle and Heart Island. We spent hours walking through every room in the castle and over every square inch of the island! It is so very sad to think noone ever got to enjoy living there. This is a MUST DO by itself or as part of the Uncle Sam Boat Tour... More

Boldt Castle is, at its heart, a love story. George Boldt moved to America from Prussia in the 1860's, and worked his way up to become the manager of the Waldorf-Astoria. That hotel set new standards for luxury; the original version was where the Empire State Building is now. Boldt was well compensated for his work. He had enough money... More

Ever have the desire of channeling your inner prince or princess? Then visit Boldt's Castle! I have visited this castle a few times over the years and have seen the huge transformation/restoration of this beautiful castle. There is great history surrounding this area, back in the day the 1000 island region was home to many New York elite. They built... More

I was there with my husband to celebrate our anniversary, it was very nice, especially with the heart shaped flower beds everywhere. I went there few times, and the Boldt Castle has improving every single time. Years ago, when I first went, only the main floor was completed. This year, the Mr. and Mrs. Boldt bedrooms have been completed, and... More

I'm generally not a huge fan of this type of attraction but I enjoyed this one. The grounds and buildings are very interesting and many rooms in the main house are still not renovated so it's fascinating to see the contrast between renovated and non-renovated rooms. The Boathouse is pretty cool too though keep in mind that it costs extra.... More

The history was interesting being that we are from NYC and this was built by the owner of the Waldorf-Astoria as a dedication to his wife who suddenly passed away and there the castle stalled. That got us to visit. Times gone by when wealth was about what you owned. This one of a kind castle has been restored over... More

and don't miss this attraction! Absolutely interesting to visit and walk around. Connects with Uncle Sam's Boat Tours and you can spend as much time at the castle and the taxi boat leaves every 1/2 hour to take back to mainland. Don't miss the castle; however, allow enough time to see everything. We allotted one hour and I had wished... More
