Modern to older traditional paintings and a little history of Bali, a good way to get an overview and understanding of Balinese culture.

Huge art museum a bit out of town but worth the trek if you're an art lover. Good variety of art spans through a few different buildings.

This is a lovely museum and I enjoyed it entirely. There was good history and a fine display of Balinese art from several eras. I wish the gift shop had more choice and better quality prints for sale.

Initially, I was hesitant about visiting the museum. There are many free art galleries in the same area and this museum charges an entry fee of 50,000 IDR. Moreover, I find going to a lot of small local museums a let down after having been to the top museums in Paris, Florence, Vienna, Zurich etc. It doesn't help that I... More

This museum is a bit out of the way from downtown Ubud, but was worth the taxi ride. It's a large, open air museum made up of many different buildings and works of art including a balinese paining area, Indonesian contemporary artists, puppets, and an area for Gusti Nyoman Lempad. I was truly amazed by the collection and felt the... More

The Neka Museum is one of the best in Indonesia. It is housed in a series of charming Balinese buildings with lovely gardens populated by ducks and birds. The collection show the evolution of Balinese art from traditional to contemporary with a scattering of expat artists who changed modern art in Indonesia. A great 2 hour visit.

This large museum, while not as beautifully situated or centrally located as the Museum Puri Lukisan, nonetheless has an unparalleled, extensive collection of painting, sculpture and carving the reflects the evolution of Balinese art. The museum's founder was the son of a carver famous in the 60"s; the depth of the collection reflects their friendships with the major luminaries on... More
